Page 16 - The Younger Odyssey
P. 16

A letter from the Younger family
I read and would like to Turn into poetry
My sister and I went
To see Uncle Cole and Jim At the prison with our aunt When she went to see them
In a special room They had us to wait A visiting room For the inmate
They were so glad to see Us when they came in
I sat on Uncle Cole’s lap And my sister on Jim’s
I saw a tear run down Uncle Cole’s face How I wished they Could leave this place
No definite statement Was ever made
As to who was with them On the Northfield raid
They didn’t seem to Want us to know But the family Has known though
Then Uncle Jim got Up and left his seat And came back with Candy for us to eat
Then time came for The dinner call
And we went with Uncle Cole to the prison mess hall
Uncle Jim was allowed To eat alone Because of the bullet That injured his jaw bone
They mentioned Uncle Bob and brought to light How his wound slowed them Down during their flight
Then the letter ends But what a blessing Was this little girl’s History lesson
 Isaiah Chapter 1, Verse 18.

ough they are red like crimson.
 ey shall be as wool.
