ith the focus just on the children taking part in prayer, without the visual distractions of the rest of the atrium or the distractions from other children, I
could really observe the way the
young child involves her whole
body in prayer.

She was bigger than
her camera could capture!
She felt she could show it better than explain it with words and it was
a joyful experience.

fterwards, I am always wondering about something. It's different every time. Say the Persistent Friend — what is God trying to teach us? I don't understand. Why wouldn't his friend give the bread right away?
And when it says the Holy Spirit ‘drove’ Jesus out to the desert. I wonder about that
because there weren't cars so what does somewhere and it's faster than walking...”
IOn Level 3 Zoom prayer:
have been doing an online study of Exodus with my Level 3 boys, arriving at Passover
during Holy Week. We shared a Seder meal over Zoom on Holy Thursday. These boys are so engaged, and already so aware of the connections within scripture, comparing details in Exodus to parallel passages in Leviticus, and seeing it in the whole context of salvation history before we even get to the typology stage of the work.

The blessings for me have been immense — their eagerness to engage deeply with scripture goes beyond the time of our meetings; they are looking ahead and spending time thinking about it in between.
We have really become a community in a special way through this time.
