What do RVians say about
their experience?
We can find out what it has been like from the students’ perspective too!
Have a read about one of our graduands who was part of the Science Leaders Academy and Humanities
and Social Sciences Leaders Academy, Eugene Chia Guole
“The Science Leaders Academy and Humanities and Social Sciences Leaders Academy ignited my
passion and gave me the platform to think far and beyond the confines of the curriculum. But more than
that, the teachers’ dedication to enabling and empowering students allowed me to achieve my full
potential.”
Here’s another, Tseng Fan Shuen (Class of 2015), who is currently pursuing a career
in the military as a doctor.
“The Science Leaders Academy also played a pivotal role in nurturing me and
developing my passion for science as I was able to conduct science research
under the mentorship of scientists and professors from renowned local and
international research institutions and universities. These research attachments
deepened my learning and challenged me to step out of my comfort zone.”
There’s also Ong Si Ci, Vice President of the Student Council from 2013 to 2014 and Vice
President of the Science Leaders Academy
“Serving in the Student Council was one of the most challenging yet rewarding
experiences in RV. By organising events and initiating projects, I have grown to understand
and appreciate the importance of service, and develop the spirit of excellence in me. I
also learnt how to lead with humility and gained valuable soft skills in Student Council. RV
gave me numerous opportunities to build my foundation in the academics and beyond,
and the experiences were crucial in shaping my interests today.”
Jean Yong - Imperial College, New Paper New Face of the Year, MOH
post-graduate scholarship
“I am thankful to the teachers in RV for playing an integral role in shaping
my values and character development. It is this strong personal foundation
that has helped me remain resilient even when subjected to the harshest
of criticisms”
