always came second in all the exams. But, since my father used to be a teacher in the same school, all the teachers used to know me and loved me.My father was respected in the whole school, not only as a teacher but also mainly as a Spiritual Master. The teachers used to bring me goodies to eat.
But, when I went to the 5th grade in Gopal High School (This school exists to-date!), I was put in the Division B. (Division A is for the best students. B is for middle quality students and C is for the low quality students.) At this time, my father started praising me a little from time to time. I do not remember the details. And, the subject English language was introduced in the 5th grade. I also started going to the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, an institute that gave tuition in Sanskrit, English, and Hindi after school hours. These tuitions were very low priced and of high quality. I met my Sanskrit Teacher, Dr. Thite at this place in 1968 and he is still my Sanskrit teacher. He is the one who did the Sanskrit portion of my book, Adhiyoga – The Authentic Yoga System of Neel Kulkarni, published in 2014.
I felt some kind of surge of energy in me in the 5th grade. I clearly remember my father praising me, my Gayatri Mantra chanting, and my becoming suddenly very good at studies. I felt as if I automatically became better each time my father praised me. It was infrequent, but it was sure each time. I came first in the Division B of the 5th grade. Thereafter, I came first in the Division B till the grade 7th. For the 8th grade, I was transferred to Division A, where one of the two top students fromthe4th gradeclasswasstudying.Shewasstillthetopmost student.Inthe8th grade,IcamesecondintheDivisionA.Iwas considered a top student of the school, next only to the girl.
