proselytize. In later life, he helped and taught hundreds of people, solving all kinds of problems, but that was done to obey his Guru’s orders. All the help he gave to others was within the framework of his Guru’s orders.He never went to people, but they came to him. [1939 to 1988].
My parents raised four daughters and one son (myself). The first child, a boy was still born. My mother very much wanted a boy. Therefore, Vinayak and Sumati went to the Tryambakeshwar Jyotirlinga (one of the 12 important shrines of Shiva called Jyotirlingas) and prayed for son with some worship-promise called Navasa. I was born in exactly 9 months and the child had all the astrological signs associated with Shiva as well as Yoga. In fact, my father had a dream before my birth where a Yogi Sanyasi appeared and told him that he would be born into my father’s family soon. (I only learnt this fact at the age of 18 as my father and my sister casually mentioned it only a couple of times in my life.) The child was named Neelkanth based on the astrological signs and the calendar. I was interested in Yoga and associated subjects from very early childhood. My father was 50 years old when I was born. [1956].
Vinayak’s family life was full of financial difficulties. He was extremely good at his teaching job and was praised for his work. But, he could not focus his attention on making money, either due to his spirituality or due to his knowledge that he was destined to be financially poor. He had to incur many insults due to his low income. But, his peace of mind and courage never abated. It seemed that the outside world did not affect his inside, but at the same time he behaved like an ordinary person. With his total faith in God and his Guru, he was able to fulfill his duties towards the family, in spite of his extremely low income. This can be called a miracle because,
