REDUCES THE POTENTIAL FOR SLIDING INJURIES

Top pad is strong enough to support a player standing on the base, but flexes and dislodges from the smooth bottom plate as player slides in.
Pad can be reset on the bottom plate when play is complete. This allows the player standing on the base to be supported by the rigid top pad,
while the sliding player can smoothly slide over the plate after the pad dislodges.
