There is a lot of confusion in the market about Hybrid Cloud.
• Often the terms is used incorrectly to mean multiple types of IT systems being used, some in the Cloud.
• This is known as multi-sourced IT or “Hybrid IT” as show by the top bar.
• Notice there is not requirement for inter-operability with Hybrid IT
• All of the systems operate independently, or using “batch-style” techniques (Eg. for one-time data migration).
• With Hybrid Cloud , a key attribute is the inter-operability between different Clouds.
• In sophisticated use-cases this includes dynamic “bursting” (ie. Capacity Augmentation) to extend the compute resources
available to a particular application or process.
• In less sophisticated use-cases this might include having confidential data and the application running on a private Cloud, but
dynamically accessing other data in a Public Cloud.
• When discussing Hybrid Cloud with customers it is important to establish
(a) If they mean Hybrid IT rather than Hybrid Cloud
(b) What type of inter-operability is required.
