In some cases, it may be helpful/necessary to display an image layer in the MDWA (e.g., site
drawings, GIS layers/maps of land or subsurface features, etc.). Use the ‘Utilities’ button
along the left-side of the MAGNET modeling environment to access the sub-menu options
               for background images.

Begin by using ‘Overlay myImage’ option to open the ‘Overlay an Image on Maps’ menu
(see Figure 7-8). The text following “Note that:” provides details on the image requirements
and the directions for specifying the image pathname if the web browser does not support local resource
accessing. If the browser does support local resource accessing, click on the ‘Browse…’ button to navigate
to the image location and open the image. Note that when using the ‘UpLoad’ option, the user must specify
the overlay extent using the text boxes next to ‘Top Latitude’, ‘Right Longitude’, etc.

Similarly to hiding and re-displaying simulation results (see subsection 5.2.4), background images can be
removed and re-displayed in the MDWA. Use the ‘Hide myImage’ option and the ‘Show myImage’ option
from the Utilities sub-menu to hide and re-display the background images, respectively. To completely
remove the background image from the MDWA, use the ‘Remove my Image’ option from the Utilities sub-
               menu.

The ‘Down/UpLoad File button is disabled in the current version of MAGNET.

               7.4 Geometry Lock/Unlock

When a user draws a conceptual feature (polygon/zone, polyline, etc.), nodes (small circles are
automatically displayed along the line segment/perimeter for “instant” editing of the geometry by click-
dragging nodes into desired locations. However, in some cases displaying these nodes will obstruct a key
conceptual feature or part of the background image, and the nodes may be unintentionally moved if the
nodes are accidentally selected by the cursor.
