He looked around swiftly and continued his movement. He had to be in position quickly and realized as he resumed that he could not afford a pause. The force was counting on the timing of every man, and being the leader was no excuse for failure.
Exactly one minute later, two other figures emerged from the black van dressed as blue-collar workers going home late. Once out of the van, the men headed in opposite directions on Reginald Street. Both walked relatively fast to gain distance between each other and just as suddenly slowed to a normal pace. Before they reached their normal pace, they were bathed in sweat, partially from high humidity, partially from mission anticipation. They each had their own thoughts as to how the mission would go and the outcome. Both felt part of the team and both hoped that any mistakes would not be their own. They both thought no one had spotted them since their exit was smooth and their movements casual. They were wrong. One headed east and the other west as they circled the block, lining up on a converging axis. The plan would entail the opposing force being locked between them. The van waited exactly two minutes and continued East on Reginald, Street stopping then turning at the red light on the corner of Lee Street.
As the van approached the corner of Lee and Boxwood streets, a sweat slowly broke out on the forehead of the driver. He knew that the mark was only a half a block away down Boxwood. Sweat poured from the driver as if he would be part of the main ele- ment. He had forgotten he was not as he continued to the next street. At Darby Street, the van turned right and headed west. One third of the way down Darby the van stopped and killed the lights. Another minute pause and the van backed down an alley.
“Hold it!” A voice came from the rear of the van as it stopped. The task force had arrived.
Another thirty seconds elapsed, and all doors swung open on
the van almost simultaneously. The remaining black clad figures evacuated from the van except the driver. The remaining members moved to the rear of the van and knelt on their left knee. The first
