“All the coordination’s done,” Marcus said, “except the gas canisters and ammo, which will be brought to us before we leave tonight.”
“Let’s saddle up and start rehearsal. We’ve got until night to get it right.”
Marcus stopped the truck and swung open the back as the men gathered to get their special equipment. Few words were spoken as the men were issued their weapons and combat equip- ment.
Throughout the area only a series of sounds which foretold the coming battle could be heard.
Click. Slap. Slide. Screech. Slam.
Each member realized the stakes and was mentally reinforc- ing their ability to accomplish it. When the last man came to the front of the truck for inspection, Brock casually scanned his team before starting his inspection. Looking at his small band of black clad commandos reminded him of where he used to be and who kept him alive going through hell. This time he would be lead- ing. He moved to his first man and started his inspection. He went down the row inspecting each man from their camouflage to their combat boots. After inspecting the last man, he dismissed them and joined them running to the initial rehearsal area.
At the end of the run, two other trucks pulled to the gate. Brock started his rehearsal casually looking up noticing the sec- ond team rolling in. Seige smiled as the truck pulled up seeing his subordinate leader move with his team already motivated and rehearsing. He hoped it would be enough to keep them all alive. He shook his head and smiled thinking of how proud of them he was. His smile widened as he thought of how they had emerged as true leaders and followers who didn’t care who was in charge as long as they got a piece of the action. Just as sud- denly, his mind went to Visara and his smile faded. He loved her, respected her and was confident in her abilities but the world was not ready for the scarring and charring of its women. Seige knew this day would come eventually but never thought it would
