  VII Unexpected Joy and Jeopardy
The day was overcast and the misty wind formed ever- increasing droplets on Tom’s London Fog matching his mood. His anxiety elevated with every thought of his current situation. His gut was churning with a mixture of fire and ice that couldn’t be pinpointed.
“I know he trusts me,” Tom convinced himself. “Otherwise, he wouldn’t let me near this project. Now why in the hell would he want just one copy of everything?”
Everything Tom could imagine had nothing but negative con- sequences. Corin was just being safe he told himself. He was just preventing loose ends before they were created, he thought. Had he really been forgiven or was he just becoming another loose end with a final mission.
Tom slipped from his trance and caught a cab to a car dealer. Corin would want him to have something sensible. Approaching the dealership, he could see salesman preparing for him. A sales- man approached with an umbrella as the rain died to a drizzle.
How are you today, Sir,” the man said.
“Very well,” Tom replied. Look. I want the best price on that car whatever it is.”
“Oh, Sir, you have a discerning eye. That is the Attacker XLS.”
“Mister. Flush the bullshit. That’s the last time I will accept a non-answer to my question. Just give me the best cash price, or get out of my face.”
