XI Project Phase Danger
Tom’s team was feeling pretty good after being in the cabin using their fingers for what seemed an eternity. The entire group went to Computer Planet and picked up the remaining hardware and software to complete the job. After finishing, all were treated to lunch at Tom’s expense. While the remainder of the team returned to the cabin with Tom’s specific instructions. Tom and Paul continued to different locations. Guards accompa- nied each group and closely monitored their actions. Coming from the computer store with the remaining items made the team feel as though Christmas had repeated itself. The new equip- ment was networked with the rest, allowing them to resume programming as if it were choreographed.
Meanwhile, Tom and Paul left for town on another more dan- gerous mission. As the guard drove them there, Tom feared for the remainder of the group now back at the cabin. He had made the last part of the day a conference with them so that he could track the progress of the project, leaving instructions for it to continue. He wanted nothing to look strange in his absence. Plan- ning to save the world had become a little easier to think about with the men settled in doing what did best. It had helped their anxiety level to subside. He noticed that they had all relaxed as if they were working for a private firm that appreciated and ex- pected the best. They could deliver if anyone could.
When the car stopped, Tom and Paul exited to purchase spe- cial equipment. Tom had worked out all of the details of the plan
