except how to get the photos of the assassins. A frown came over his face as he thought of his partners being their first victims. It just didn’t sit right. He reaffirmed to himself that it wasn’t going to happen. How to get the pictures was the only little detail he had not worked out. Paul had informed him to refer to the assas- sins as operatives and simply to send them a special key with money that could be exchanged at the bank for a special pack- age.
Tom was instantly ecstatic as he directed the guard to head for the post office and the bank, recognizing immediately just how he would handle the caper. After visiting three more stores, the two were driven home to join the others. Early the next day, they left after breakfast while the rest of the group continued programming. Suddenly it was time for the list of operatives Corin had given him to be recruited.
It was also time to test his plan. Consequently, Tom and Paul arrived at the bank ahead of schedule. They coordinated with the manager and hid in the bank to watch the transaction. The first assassin to show up was a man in his late twenties who pro- ceeded directly to the manager. He sat down in a chair and slapped his hand on the desk. A key remained when he removed it. The manager recognized the key and quickly rose to his feet.
“Yes, Sir, and how may I help you today?”
“I want to pick up my package.”
“Please follow me.
The manager led the gentleman through a series of doors
and into a room full of metallic drawers. He stood at the corner and directed the customer to his security drawer.
“Sir, we must turn these keys simultaneously on three, two, one, turn. By pressing this button you will let me know you have concluded your business.”
“Thanks.”
The manager returned to his desk and waited. A few minutes later the light went on at his desk and he rushed to the chamber.
“Are you ready, Sir?”
