He started to think of other things to say in the letter, but decided for once to leave well enough alone. Walking towards the door, he hastily turned to look back at the friendly teller. The man winked, reassuring him that his cargo would get to its desti- nation. Tom palmed a hundred-dollar bill and went back to shake the man’s hand. Replacing his jacket, he continued out the door feeling more than gratitude for the teller.
Leonard was in a hurry as he took information from the lady who struck the car. As he leaned on the side of the building waiting for his driver, Tom breathed a sigh of relief.
“This just might work,” he felt with a smile.
Back at the cabin the programming team had supper without the guards. There was just a little small talk about leaving at the end of the meal. Tom reassured his group that all was well. His news took the edge off the tension for the next few days.
The last day of the week, Corin called promptly at 8 a.m., and the entire group was already up and nervous. It was time for Tom’s show. Paul grabbed the software they had been working on and gave them to Tom. Tom gave the rest of the team a reassuring nod. Leonard took Paul and Tom to see Corin.
