Supplementary Subject Learning Area of Mathematics
               Secondary 1 Semester 2 Time 40 Periods 1 Credit

An ability to understand and be able to generate terms of an integer sequence and find a term, given
its position in the sequence. Generate sequences from patterns. Construct simple algebraic expressions.
Substitute positive integers into simple linear expressions and formulae. Identify and represent information
or unknown numbers in problems. Simplify an expression by collecting like terms. Expand a term that
includes brackets. Construct and solve linear equations. Read and plot positive and negative coordinates of
points determined by geometric information. Recognise straight-line graphs parallel to the x-axis and y-axis.
Draw accurate mathematical graphs. Transform 2D points and shapes by a: reflection in a given line rotation
about a given point translation. Recognise and use spatial relationships in two dimensions. Decide which
data would be relevant to a question and collect and organise the data. Design and use a questionnaire for
a simple survey. Construct and use frequency tables to gather discrete data, grouped, where appropriate,
into equal class intervals. Find the mode, median and range for a set of numbers or values. Calculate the
mean of a set of numbers. Calculate the mean from a simple frequency table. Draw and interpret
pictograms, bar charts, bar-line graphs, frequency diagrams, Pie charts. Discuss and communicate findings
effectively. Write a probability as a fraction, a percentage or a decimal. Use equally likely outcomes to
calculate a probability. Identify mutually exclusive outcomes. Use experimental data to estimate a
probability. Compare experimental and theoretical probabilities.
This subject uses knowledge and understanding creating process, working process, analysis process,
grouping process and problem solving process in teaching and studying.
The knowledge and the processes are designed to develop the students’ desirable characteristics
which are love of nation, religion and king, Honesty and integrity, Self-discipline, Avidity for learning,
Observance of principles of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in one’s way life, Dedication and commitment
to work, Cherishing Thai-ness, Public-mindedness and Health and aesthetic images.
