2020: NJPSA Members Go the Distance
History will recall 2020 as the year that it all changed. Sure, the previous two
decades laid some groundwork to make it possible. Dial-up gave way to high-
speed wireless; iphones replaced flip phones; social media exploded; and
schools began to institute Google Classroom, Class Dojo, and 1:1 Chromebook
initiatives, as part of technology upgrades for 21st Century learning. But no one
could predict that these year-to-year improvements to everyday learning would
serve as a foundation to make the impossible a reality, when the education
community was called upon to close all school buildings one day and begin
a new emergency, distance learning platform the next, all without skipping a
beat. Forever, the landscape of teaching and learning has been altered, as the
lessons learned through forced distance learning will carry over into the future
with blended learning solutions, video and social media communication, and
technology-infused classrooms. Please enjoy these stories written by NJPSA
members on how they brought distance learning to life.
