COMMUNICATION – WHAT IS PARTI IN ARCHITECTURE

In direct meaning parti means the basic, central, or
main concept, drawing, or scheme of an

architectural design. A parti diagram is an
idea sketch, an initial response to a site, a design
program or some other conditions that begin to

determine the order for developing the concept of
the project. They don't really represent what the

project will look like in plan or elevation, but are a
road map of ideas for the project. Parti from my
point of view is a departure point, but it can also

means the big idea, the over scheme of a project.
The departure point would be from your idea to

the designing of it. When you are asked about your
parti, it means where you get the idea for your
project which is the concept. As a conclusion the

parti is a diagram and its plays a critical role in the
design process, developing the concept and the Figure 69 : Sample of parti in architecture

representation of the design. They are tools with
which a designer thinks, speaks to himself and
conveys the idea to others
