PREFACE 3

The ‘Shelters for Urban Refugees’ Exhibition is an interdisciplinary

research project supported by South Korea’s Ministry of Education

and the National Research Foundation of Korea. As the ‘fusion of

research in philosophy, architecture, art, culture, and engineering’

for the ‘construction of smart shelter spaces’, this exhibition forms

part of the three years of research work, and will be held jointly by

the Smart Shelter Research Foundation and Polytechnic

Port Dickson. This exhibition took place at JKKN Exhibition Hall in

Seremban. Under the theme ‘Shelters for Urban Refugees’,

this exhibition displayed the work and results of architecture

students from Dongguk University, Korea University,

Hanbat University, Ansan University and Politeknik Port Dickson.

Such work was to focus on the creation of human-centred cities

through shelter design. The purpose of this exhibition is for

architectural students from Korea and Malaysia to share design

Ideas on the topic of ‘Shelters for Urban Refugees’, and to form an

international bond. The definition of ‘smart shelters’ used by this

exhibition includes the use of electronic information technology, but

refers to creative and original shelters for this exhibition. This is ex

plained in further detail in the latter half of this document, under the

section titles ‘Smart Shelters Definitions’ and ‘Data on Smart

Shelters’. This portfolios collected all the works exhibited duriing

             the exhibition.
