        2. Problem Statement

An engineering program at a higher level has been introduced in major education systems since early 1996 (Megat Mohd Noor,
2002). Civil Engineering diploma program requires its students to register engineering surveying course in a particular semester.
Engineering surveying is the course that combined theoretical coursework with hands-on practical field work with experience
focuses on the application of engineering principles. The students have almost 56 hours of practical fieldwork during the course to
equip them with the necessary skill by applying and adapting engineering practice. These courses are graded through their
cognitive skills, affective skills and psychomotor skills. The total of 15 weeks of continuous practical work and lab reporting may
become a burden for both students and lecturers. In addition to that, Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC)
requires each student to be graded individually causing limited time for lecturers to brief the guidelines and explain practical
procedures to each student as lecturers must also focus their attention to grade students according to the generic skill attributes.
Therefore, the VR application can help students improve their knowledge and understanding of engineering survey course
focusing on the equipment in terms of cognitive, psychomotor and effective aspects.

As mentioned earlier, in this engineering course, students need to perform practical work throughout the semester by using the
        lab and survey equipment. Practical work, especially based on the use of specialized equipment, must be done under supervision;
therefore, students are unable to self-configure laboratory equipment, experience emergencies or the effects of misconfiguration
that can cause equipment damage (Kamińska, 2019). Moreover, there is no possibility to practice and catch up beyond the practical
class schedule. Therefore, in order to have the access, students must get the permission from the lecturers in charge. Due to this
situation, many problems arise. Students are not allowed to access equipment session without the supervision of the lecturers and
when this happens, students need a lot of time to identify the appropriate equipment for their practical tasks. Besides, students can
use the equipment within the practical time period only. With a large number of students in one class, they have to share in order
to learn and use the survey equipment. This situation may cause the students lack of practical skills during the field work. To
address this issue, a number of lecturers developed this VR 360 video application ‘Survey Engineering Workshop via Virtual
Reality’. After being used throughout the semester, it needs to be reviewed whether this application is suitable or not as a new
method in the process of teaching and learning for this course. This is because, nowadays, VR or AR tools open new possibilities
        for training technologist development.

        3. Aim and Objectives of the Study

The aim of this study is to evaluate suitability Video 360 as a new method in the process of teaching and learning for the
engineering surveying course. In order to achieve the aim, the objectives of the study developed are as follows:
           i. To identify the content of interactive VR 360 video for Engineering Surveying that corresponds with the content of the
                syllabus.
ii. To explore the perception of students towards the application.

        4. Scope of the Study

The development of this 360 Video is research or applied research. The study was done to solve teaching and learning process
problems related to handling survey equipment and practical skills for survey engineering course. This Video 360 can solve critical
problems that require immediate action, bring changes and new discoveries to the educational development. Video 360 developed
in accordance with the engineering survey syllabus that focuses on the introduction of survey equipment, how to use and simulation
videos of practical lab with are suitable for students doing engineering survey course to study and understand.

        5. Significant of the Study

360 Videos produced can improve student achievement in terms of knowledge because students can understand the needs and
functions of each space in the workshop without having to enter the workshop. In fact, the process of borrowing and returning
equipment runs more easily and interestingly due to the initial exposure related to the operation and work procedures of borrowing
and returning equipment. With this, students are indirectly able to make an analysis of equipment management control skills
through each layout and space available in the engineering survey workshop. 360 Videos produced also can improve student
achievement in terms of skills, such as students can understand the importance of choosing the right equipment to ensure the
accuracy of measurement and meet the needs of the measurement. Students can be exposed to the procedure of preparing the actual
equipment before starting the practice through video available with VR. As a result, students are able to plan in advance the
equipment that will be used and the practical procedures that will be carried out. In addition, students can learn new things, namely
applications and how to use the latest learning technology equipment that uses Virtual Reality technology.
