This Report sets out the current context, a brief history of the BWBP project, and the organisation’s responses to the challenges and the aspirations of local communities. It also describes the many exciting projects being proposed for the Bronllys Community Hospital and its surroundings and lays out how they will be realised over the coming decades. Finally, it concludes with recommendations for realising this unique and potentially influential initiative.
In 2014, in response to an invitation from the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB), and a petition handed to the Welsh Government (WG) in December 2012, BWBP proposed to create a unique Well Being Park, complementing and adding to the Bronllys Community Hospital. The initiative was intended to secure the long-term future of Bronllys Community Hospital and protect it from operational downgrading and possible commercial housing development.
This Report builds on the work of BWBP, formerly the Powys Health & Wellbeing Action Group, and its specialist working groups and Advisory Group over the last eight years. Since then, while needs have significantly increased, in some cases, ideas and policies around health, care and well-being have also evolved. BWBP has followed
