Part Norman, part Jacobean, part Victorian, Hay Castle has been recently restored
and is now a centre for culture, arts and education. A lift gives access to all floors
apart from the cellar, and there is a ramp to access the entrance. To avoid the steps
at the large wooden doors down to the town centre, retrace the path out of the gate,
turn right and right again to find a pedestrian walkway into the main street. Tours are
available to book. Entry fee.
How to get there: Hay Castle is in the town centre, accessible from opposite the main
car park on Oxford Road, HR3 5DG.

Public Transport: T14 (TC) Hereford to Brecon stops outside.
Parking: The main car park is opposite. The disabled bays are closest to the castle on
level ground. There is level access across the zebra crossing and up the drive.
Nearest EV Charging: Oxford Road Car Park, Hay-on-Wye, HR3 5EQ.
Facilities: There is a café and shop at the castle and a variety of other shops
and cafes in the town.
Toilets: There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor near the café and a further one
on the first floor.
