In the UK, employers are responsible for paying their apprentices' salaries. The apprenticeship costs are funded through the Apprenticeship Levy or Government funding. There are different funding schemes across the UK nations. Each UK nation manages its own apprenticeship programmes, including how funding is spent on apprenticeship training.
Collaborating with the Training Provider
Apprenticeship training requires three parties:
The person doing the apprenticeship
The employer
Businesses can be apprehensive about starting an apprenticeship because they are unsure how best to analyse skills gaps in their company and what their legal obligations are. Approved apprenticeship training providers will help alleviate these concerns and support the business before, during and after the apprenticeship. The provider you choose will receive government funding to train a more productive workforce. The provider is responsible for the quality of your apprenticeship programme and will demonstrate how the training meets Ofsted’s requirements and the off-the-job training rules.
