P. 2
Hello
What’s this all about?
Are you considering Career options and have a keen interest in finding
out what skills and jobs are in high demand now and in the future? If
so, allow us to open the door and introduce you to what's going on in
South West Wales (SSW).
But first, let's dispel a small myth, you don’t have to leave this
fantastic part of the world to fulfil your ambitions, there is plenty
going on and many opportunities for your future are right here on your
doorstep.
This guide aims to highlight these fantastic opportunities and
provides some insight into how you can join a thriving and growing
local economy and build a lifelong career doing something you love.
The world of work is changing fast, and if you are considering career
options now, then you will be on the leading edge of the new
industrial revolution which is currently gathering momentum.
Industrial Revolution 2.0
From computing advances such as AI, Virtual Reality, Augmented
Reality, Drones and Robotics, this will impact every sector within the
next few years, to the energy transition where we are switching from
fossil fuels to sustainable systems, which will also have an impact on
all businesses and sectors. Couple this with ever changing consumer
demands, means that jobs, skills and competencies will be changing
and as a result, many new opportunities will be arriving that offer high
skill, high paid roles in jobs you may have never considered.
How do you know about all these
opportunities?
How does this guide help?
Why should I believe you? / Why should I listen?
Ok, good questions, let's introduce ourselves. We are The Regional
Learning & Skills Partnership (RLSP), and we develop a clear
understanding of the skills needs of industry now and in the future by
analysing Labour Market Intelligence and working closely with
Education Providers, Government and Industry to identify the skills
needs for South West Wales, we then ensure there are clear career
pathways made available for those roles. We do this work across 4
counties:
✓ Neath & Port Talbot
✓ Swansea
✓ Carmarthenshire
✓ Pembrokeshire
The Partnership works with industry to identify skills needs and gaps
and influence Further Education, Higher Education and Schools on
the delivery of courses and training to meet industry and local career
prospect needs. Therefore, the RLSP would like to share the
knowledge we have gained, to help you make good choices for your
future.
There is a wealth of information available, far too much to cover
everything in this guide, but there are links throughout where you can
