There are high numbers of student enrolments each
year for this sector, its hugely popular, but this does
make it a very competitive sector to enter. You will
however learn some core fundamental skills that are
needed for all sectors, such as customer service,
planning & problem solving, teamwork, creativity etc.
Creative Industries
Many students are choosing this route, with South
West Wales growing its creative space. However,
currently the job numbers and creative industries
available are not at high levels yet locally.
Don’t let that deter you, learning within this sector
will provide you with fantastic core transferable skills
such as: media, sales and marketing, confidence
building, management, teamwork and problem
solving, all skills employers from all industries are
looking for.
Yr Egin in Carmarthen has created many more jobs in
this sector over the past few years, many of these
roles are in computer engineering
Education
The next generation will require educating and
teachers are always in high demand. Multilingual
skills will be a huge advantage if wanting to
pursue a career in primary, secondary, further &
higher education. Teacher training can be taken in
Welsh which offers key opportunities to drive
home the Welsh Language.
Public Sector
Emergency services are always recruiting, again
strong bilingual skills will give an advantage.
Local authorities require a vast array of skills,
currently in demand are analyst, data insight and
digital roles, management, skilled trades,
communication.
