How to attract the right people for your team.
We believe that the same amount of care and consideration that goes
into designing a yacht should be put into building a successful team.
Attracting the right person for the job, and importantly, the right fit for your
particular yacht is crucial to building a successful team. So, how do you go
about this?
Firstly, you need to know what you want, in terms of essential skills,
experience and crew dynamic. You also need to be able to communicate
what you can offer as a package but also the culture on board your vessel.
What do you want?
Start by asking yourself the following questions in order to clearly define
what you are looking for...
What do you want the person to do?
What specific skills or experience do you want them to have?
What level of skills is appropriate?
What do you need to do to maintain your high-performing team?
What can you offer?
Alongside a clear job description and details of the proposed package,
having a small document that provides additional information to give
candidates a better understanding of your yacht could be beneficial.
After all, you want to ensure that the person who has all of the right
attributes joins your team rather than accepting a job on another yacht.
You could include information such as core values. Establishing a set
of values or a vision statement for your team is a great place to start the
recruitment process.
Furthermore, involving your entire team in establishing these core values
means that your crew will identify and feel invested in the values of the
vessel.
