Are you sure you want to own a horse?
your horse happy and healthy. Ow-
ning a horse is pretty much like having
a child. If this is your first horse, you’ll
have to buy equipment, and in many
cases, it may cost half of the price of
your horse.
From day one, be prepared to assume all the expenses that maintaining a
horse implies. I remember not understanding at first why my parents weren’t
so excited about buying me a horse. As I grew up, they started sending me to
pay the bills for my horse, and that’s when I realized how expensive it really
was. There are countless things you have to pay for to keep your horse healthy.
Some of them you have to pay every month, while others only a few times a
year. Prices may vary depending on where you want to keep your horse. Small,
family barns are usually cheaper than large, or professional equestrian centers
where they do hard training for competitions.
