Slide 2. In the second selected photo, the subject is smiling pleasantly and enjoying herself. The expression is less confused and forced than it is in the alternate photos on the same slide. Another photo is extremely similar. You might even assume they are the same photo. Even side-by-side they are hard to tell apart. Both are great, but our selected photo was chosen because the crop shows slightly more of the foreground and the color appears slightly warmer. While these details may seem a little obsessive, they will help you to determine the stronger of the two photos—and it’s good practice to defend your editing decisions by pointing to specific elements in a photo.
