Slide 3. In the third selection, the subject conveys a sense of motion. There are several elements that contribute to this; the subject’s legs are in the frame and the position of her legs implies that she is walking to the left of the frame, the top of our subject’s head is cropped off and helps to emphasize the top and bottom of the frame, and the lines of the fence in the background are perfectly vertical. These elements add to the previously described horizontal sense of motion. None of the other photos accomplish this in such an astonishing way.
