Aegina
Aegina is a lovely island located about a hour
away from Athens. It is the perfect
destination for anyone who wants a nice
holiday with a little sun, fun and sightseeing.
On the island you will find great seafood
tavernas, the 17th century Tower of
Markellos which was used in the Greek
Revolution of 1821, the magical Byzantine
Paleohora ruins and small fishing villages.
There are also pretty beaches to relax at,
museums, the archaeological site of Kolona
and everything you would expect to find on
a Greek island including the 19th-century
atmosphere.
You can also visit the ruins of a temple to
Zeus on Mount Oros. Another reason to visit
the island is the delicious pistachio nut,
which is a unique treat. For a small island,
there are lots to see and do in Aegina.
