Mike’s design thinking is something exceptionally remarkable. He enjoys
using complex data sets involving different variables as a creative material that result in overwhelmingly attractive infographics.
A developer turned designer, Mike strives to demonstrate how information can be beautiful using various data visualization techniques and generative processes.
Creative Coding
Using the software ‘Processing’ (p5.js), Mike creates interactive, graphic experiences
by coding them in place. Inputing different variables and playing various elements like size, position, weight, space and colour result in some pretty incredible outcomes.
In this project for Volanti Imaging, Mike created a set of dots that rotated around an orbit as the identity for the brand.
Having created the animation algorithmically, Volanti has a version of the logo that is an animated footage itself along with each
still frame of the animation as a multitude
of unique images.
Using this to his advantage, Mike output a different composition for the back of every business card making none of the cards identical. Afterall, singularity adds value and made every card one of its kind.
