Those sound waves eventually hit the outside of your ear and are funnelled into your ear via the peculiar shape of ears (weirdly shaped hey?)
It’s down your ear canal that these sound waves hit your ear drum.
Now that drum passes vibrations onto ‘little bones’ (simply put) who’s basic job it is to pass those ‘cough vibrations’ deeper into the inner ear and onwards towards the vestibular nerve.
Here is the where the transformation from ‘cough waves’ to electricity occurs.
It is the job of the cells all throughout the inner ear to turn those sound waves into ‘electricity’ so the brain can process it and tell you the exact sound of the cough the man next to you is making.
But, inside each and every cell, it is the specific job of the endoplasmic reticulum to transmit electricity to other cells and ultimate the cells in your brain via neurotransmitters.
