TMC PENANG : OUTREACH MINISTRY (BAYAN BARU)
A BRIEF HISTORY
Mr. Raymond Nathan took over the reins as the coordinator. Together with his parents,
Mr. Nathan and Mrs. Rosaline Nathan, they actively evangelised the areas surrounding Bayan
Baru. In the year 2014, the free Tuition Ministry was started with two students. This number
picked up to around 15 students the following year. In 2015, the Church School ministry started
with a regular attendance of 20 to 25 students with 3 teachers namely Mrs. Jayamany Raja, Mrs.
Rhema Raymond and Mr. Raymond Nathan.
In 2016, Rev. Jeremiah Thomas (2016 until today), organised a Working Committee for
the Bayan Baru to look into the affairs of the Bayan Baru ministry. In 2017, the Working
Committee was formalized into a Pro-tem Committee. In the same year, for the first time, Palm
Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Services were held. Immediately after the Lent, repair and
renovation works started, and was completed in time for the first Thanksgiving Service. The first
Christmas Service was also held but on the eve of Christmas. Evangelistic Meetings too are held
every year. In 2017, Rev. John Ganapathy and Rev. Samuel Periathamby were invited. In 2018,
Rev. C. Paul and Pastor John Titus had their evangelistic meetings. The TAC President,
Rev. Dr. Dennis Raj also visited and had an Evangelistic meeting in 2018. In 2019, Pastor Geetha
Rajagopal was invited to do a meeting in 2019.
At present, the ministries in Bayan Baru Outreach includes weekly Sunday Services, weekly
Prayer Meetings, Prayer Walks, Prayer Drives, Extended time of Prayer, Cell Groups and
Evangelistic Meetings, Tuition Classes, Church School and Music Class.
God has been faithful in giving increase where His work has been sown. From 2002 to
2019, Bayan Baru Outreach Point has grown from strength to strength. May God’s Name be
Glorified through the expansion of His Kingdom here in Bayan Baru. Great is Thy Faithfulness!
