Page 2 - GUIDE 5-23a
P. 2
Dear Bigs Brothers, Sisters and families of our Littles,
We are so thankful for your support during this difficult time.
Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is dedicated to providing caring adults as
mentors for Yavapai County’s youth. Because all of you, whether as Bigs
or guardians, are on the front lines with our youth, we want to return that
support to you as much as we can.
We are following the recommendations of the Centers for
Disease Control, as well as our local officials, and practicing Social
Distancing, and we hope you will, too.
In this guide, you will see ways to talk to a child about the current
emergency situation and other traumas. But, you will also get the
opportunity to revisit how you interact with children with online learning
centers, virtual tours and more.
Technology has made it possible for you to spend quality time with your
Little when you can’t be there in person. The next page offers how-to
guides on Skyping and Zooming and both can be done on computers
or even your cell phone! Try Face Timing or Duo on your cell as well.
Because we care about the health of our county’s citizens and our staff, we postponed Bowl For Kids’ Sake
until August and we have limited our open hours at both buildings.
We are still fundraising for BFKS, as this is an important piece of our annual budget. Our staff is also hard at
work, mostly from their homes, making sure Matches are getting the support they need.
Reach out to your Match Advisor if you need some help or guidance. We are here for you.
We hope you enjoy this guide and find some fun, as well as educational, activities to share with a child who
needs you more than ever in this uncertain time.
