Having graduated, I elected to do a three-year stint at Wowcher as a salesperson, rising to the giddy heights of Sales Team Leader. Eventually, the chaos got the better of me and I ‘retired’ from the world of sales last September (much to the consternation of my parents and the jubilation of my employers!). I have now started my own jewellery company, Antonia Guise. I think a lot of you will love the first collection, so if you’re feeling nosey or are bored at work, head over to our website to check it out: www.antoniaguise.co.uk.
Alexandra Mayfield: I worked as a ski instructor in Switzerland after Oundle and went to language school in Seville. I then studied Politics, living for three happy years with Laura Diggens and Imi Harris (K 09) on the Geordie shore. I moved to London to take an MSc in International Relations at LSE and at the same time worked in Westminster for a cabinet minister. In 2015 I joined Morgan Stanley, where I work in their fixed income division. I have been lucky enough to travel a lot since school, mainly with Oundelians. I am currently living in East London.
Lucy Mitchell: After leaving school, I spent a year travelling with Oundle friends, teaching and touring in South Africa before a summer interrailing across Europe. I then went to King’s College London to study History, before converting to Law as a post- graduate. After five years in London, I
moved out of the City to train at national law firm Mills & Reeve, based in their Norwich office. Almost four years on and I’m still there, having qualified into the contentious trusts and probate team in 2017 (doing wills, inheritance and trust disputes work). Although I’m living in Norwich, I regularly work in London and elsewhere, and my Oundle friends remain my best ones. Shout out to Flora Watson (N 09) for asking me and Antonia Hurley (N 09) to be her bridesmaids when she married Georgy Yukhnovich (B 09) in 2014. It was pretty much the best day ever.
Kate Symes-Thompson: During my gap year I embarked on a ski season in Verbier with fellow New House ladies Alex Mayfield and Alice Banks (N 09). They managed to pass the ski instructor test whilst I looked after children. I then went to Durham University to study English and spent another year living with Alice, followed by a further two years in London just after I’d completed the Teach First programme in deepest, darkest Croydon. I am now Head of English and Deputy Housemistress of a boys’ house at St John’s School in Leatherhead, where I continue to inspire the children of Surrey. The most exciting thing was being a bridesmaid at Lizzy Moyle’s (D 07) wedding in May – and yes, everybody still calls me ‘Chicken’!
Arabella Turner: After leaving school, I travelled the world with my Oundle
pals. We lost two passports and two suitcases between us. Three of those items were lost by Katie Hughes (Sn 09). She had to move to New York due to the shame! After three years at Leeds University trying to keep Serena Chambers (K 09) on the straight and narrow, I headed off for the bright lights of the Orient and worked in Hong Kong as a financial journalist for two years. I was visited by Alex Mayfield (N 09), who was very overwhelmed by the humidity and spent most of the trip straightening her hair! I moved back to London and have spent the last few years working for property start- up Appear Here, heading up their West London portfolio. This summer, though, I moved on to become a senior consultant for new business LMRE that is focusing on recruiting for the big names in PropTech, so this seems the perfect time for a sales hook. If you need a job, drop me a line at arabella.turner@lmre.co.uk.
Sophia Wyatt: I went straight to university after Oundle and studied at Sciences Po Paris and King’s College London. I worked in radio and met my boyfriend there. I became a strategist and did food and film side projects, including a taco van and food waste campaigning, before starting a circular social impact business called Library of Things. We’re now getting neighbourhoods sharing things and skills across London through kiosks in community spaces. I live in Camberwell, South London.
