Roger Edwardson: Since leaving Oundle, I have studied Interpreting and Translation at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, focusing on French and German, and spending a great Erasmus year in Belgium and Austria, which were excellent places to live, although it did mean I learned more dialectal language than not. After deciding that my postgraduate teaching degree was not living up to my dreams and knowing I wanted to work with people, I went to work in international recruitment, using my French to develop business connections in France. The next step for me was then to pursue a career in HR, so I did a master’s in HR Management in Aberdeen to get CIPD-accredited. Now I am based in Glasgow with my fiancée, Alison, and we’re getting married in October this year. I’m working as an HR reward consultant for a multinational recruitment organisation. I managed to keep up fives for a few years, playing with the Caledonian Club in Edinburgh, and will hopefully make it down to Oundle for the OOs’ game again one day.
Leonie Griffin: I spent my school career washing my hair in the sink. I got a job that I hate and is antithetical to my personality and

Alice Banks: After Oundle I took a year out qualifying as a ski instructor in Verbier with Alex Mayfield (N 09) and coaching hockey in Northamptonshire. I then spent three happy years at Durham University studying Geography, before going on to complete a master’s in Real Estate at the University of Reading. On graduating, I moved to London to work in real estate for CBRE, where I qualified as a chartered surveyor and I now work as an asset manager for Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Until last year I lived with my New House and university room-mate, Kate Symes-Thompson (N 09), but I now live with my boyfriend, Alex, in South-West London. I still enjoy keeping active by playing netball, running and
interests. Therefore, I have had an ongoing existential crisis for the last three years. I should have moved to Barcelona, but still haven’t made it there yet. My skateboarding career is on hold for the meantime. I finally had an epiphany that I love historic architecture and must work in heritage conservation, so I’m currently trying to align my true passion and work. I’m still washing my hair in the sink – not much has changed!
Giles Hall: I graduated from Cardiff Medical School in 2014. Having worked for a few years, I got married and went on a six-month honeymoon around the world with my wife to get away from the NHS for a while. I am now training to become a GP in the Warwickshire area, but may eventually move back to around Oundle.
Nick Lawson: After leaving Oundle, I moved to Bristol for four happy years to study Chemistry followed by a master’s in Economics, Finance and Management. I then joined BP, working in supply chain management for offshore projects in Scotland. After a few years I moved back down to London, where I now manage the drilling category in
doing occasional triathlons.
Stephanie Chan: I went straight into studying Real Estate at Oxford Brookes University after Oundle. This was followed by a year at Reading for my master’s. I’m currently working at CBRE, predominantly focusing on European real estate, which involves regular travelling. Prior to that, I spent four very fun years at Gerald Eve, where I qualified as a chartered surveyor. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, yoga (although I’ve not quite gone to India to find myself!) and being entertained by Teresa So (Sn 09) and Delina Evans (K 09). I live in West London with my sister, Christine (N 12).
Phyllis Hamilton-Jones: The last 10 years have been full of spontaneous adventure. After travelling for three
Iraq and a number of carbon offsetting projects. In 2018 I married my wife, Izzy, whom I met whilst studying in Bristol.
Jess Martin: I graduated from Newcastle University, having worked in local BBC radio in my third year. This inspired me to go on to study for a master’s in Broadcast Journalism at City University London. Once this was completed, I left London to start a job in Bristol with BBC’s Countryfile, which then ledtoamovetoTheOneShowa few years later. I really enjoyed working on the shows, but had my eye on sport, so after three years with the BBC I moved to Sky Sports, where I now work as an assistant producer in the cricket department.
Elliot Power: Following Oundle, I studied Economics at Durham University and subsequently started working for PwC in London. I lived in Clapham Junction for three years, but then an opportunity to move to the Caribbean came up, which I couldn’t turn down. I still work for PwC, but I am now based in the Cayman Islands, auditing hedge funds. I recently bought a house across from the beach and adopted a rescue dog called Cali.
years, I finally went to SOAS University, where I met a man who later became my husband. I am now a mother of two children and run two businesses alongside home educating them in their pre-school years. We run a fast-growing tree surgery business in South-East London and I have just launched as a Montessori- inspired parenting coach, aiming to take the elitism out of Montessori and making it more accessible to all. I aim to send my children to school at five, maybe even seven. We will explore the world together first.
Antonia Hurley: After a couple of false starts, including a five-week stint at Leeds University, I eventually completed my degree in Costume Design at Wimbledon College of Art. However, I can honestly say that my degree hasn’t been used since!
