mostly playing netball. I am now in Edinburgh, working for Aberdeen Standard Investments as an emerging markets equity analyst and still spending lots of time visiting both Asia and Scottish mountains.
Lily Luxmoore-Styles: On leaving Oundle, I took a year out to travel around South America and South- East Asia, mostly notably surviving the trials and tribulations that arose in 40 degree+ heat whilst teaching orphans in Mandalay, Burma, with Serena Chambers (K 09) – a memorable and fantastic experience. Following this, I went to Bristol University, where I read French and History of Art, and spent my third year abroad, between Aix-en- Provence and Champagne, where I met some fascinating people. On graduating, I tried my hand at PR before joining an executive search firm, pursuing my interest in people and business. I have remained in the industry and now focus on CEO and board appointments for FTSE100 and FTSE250 businesses. I recently got married and had Olivia van Vredenburch (W 09) as my maid of honour.
Molly St Johnston: Taking a path worthy of a finishing school, after leaving Oundle I headed to London to cook my way through Leiths School of Food and Wine. This was followed by travelling through India and South- East Asia, ending up in Bali (original, I know). Ever the thespian, I made my way to Leeds and completed a course in Theatre & Performance. Having graduated, I enjoyed a stint of performing at Platform 9 3⁄4 at King’s Cross (once a Harry Potter fan, always a Harry Potter fan!) and followed this up with a course at a prestigious London drama school, with the prospect of ‘making it’ as an actor. Having still not received the call from Hollywood, I have been revolutionising the luxury leather-bound goods industry, which is the perfect place for wedding presents (#justsaying). I am based in London, where my closest friends are, of course, from Oundle, spending most of our weekends drinking rosé. I live in Holland Park with my older sister, never ever venture
south of the river and am still waiting for my Prince Charming, Rafael Nadal, to sweep me off my feet!
Amy Stuart-Mills: Having left Oundle, I went travelling on my gap year, returning with a renewed sense of self, an excellent tan and an eyebrow piercing! I then went to Newcastle University for two years, before realising the self I found in Brazil was not suited to further education and so I made my way to London to make big bucks. I continue to do this six years later and have found that I am actually a bit of a baller in the City! These great instincts of mine also led me to realise that I should in fact accept Alexander Lavender’s (St A 09) persistent advances and agree to be his girlfriend; we now live together in near marital bliss. Thus, 10 years on from Oundle, I have removed the eyebrow piercing, but the friends I made at the School remain my nearest and dearest.
Lucy Taylor: After initially thinking university wasn’t for me, I ended up going twice! Firstly, I graduated from Newcastle with a 2:1 and then with a master’s in Rural Land and Business Management at Reading. I later joined the Savills graduate scheme in Newbury. This meant living with several strangers and the only positive was seeing lots of Emily Westwood (W 09) in Salisbury. After qualifying as a surveyor, I was reunited with Hannah Dillon (W 09) and lived with her for a year in Kennington. A brief internal move led me to realise commercial property was not for me and I now find myself heading up the Savills London House Consultancy team, which I really enjoy. I am currently living in Maida Vale and still lucky enough to see lots of the Oundle lot!
Louisa Troughton: I left Oundle raring to travel the world and find a summer romance along the way. I travelled for six months to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong with Emily Westwood (W 09), and China, Mongolia and South-East Asia with Emily Booth (W 09). I went to Newcastle University (with
countless other OOs!), graduating in 2013 with a first in Politics and Sociology. Moving to London soon afterwards, I worked in luxury travel for three years, before joining the international affairs policy think tank, Chatham House, where I have been for over two years. I am working with their major donors as we move into our centenary year in 2020. I continue to play weekly netball with Jess Martin (L 09), with whom I also lived for two years, and try to play for the OO netball team each year (against an Oundle first team who seem far taller than we were 10 years ago!). I am now engaged to said summer romance from 10 years ago, living in Brixton with our tortoise, Leslie, and still regularly see OOs, whom I count as my closest friends.
Olivia van Vredenburch: On leaving Oundle, I enrolled in a 10-week cookery course at Leiths School of Food and Wine, followed by a ski instructor course for the 2009/10 season in Courchevel, France. After three months in sub-zero temperatures, I headed to South-East Asia for some sun. I went on to read Geography at Durham University, before gaining a place on the Nestlé graduate scheme within marketing. Starting in the confectionery business on the Rowntree’s brand, I moved on to become Brand Manager at Nestlé Waters, managing the marketing activity of S. Pellegrino, Perrier and Buxton in the UK. More recently, I have moved into sales to broaden my commercial experience. Excitingly on 1st June, I was delighted to be maid of honour to Lily Luxmoore-Styles (W 09) at her marriage to the man of her dreams. I currently live in Pimlico with my sister, Tatiana (K 09).
Emily Westwood: Having graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Pathology and Microbiology, I moved to Salisbury to train as an accountant for three years. I have now moved to London, where I work for BDO LLP. I still participate in various sports on a regular basis, riding horses most weekends to escape the City and playing netball weekly along with a number of fellow OOs.
