My brother, Jerry Miller (Sc 78), reports that his middle daughter, Ellie (Sn 14), has graduated from Central Saint Martins with a 2:1 and has started a new role at Soho House in their interior design team, having worked part time for the same company whilst studying. Jerry’s eldest daughter, Alice (Sn 08), works for the Shangri-La Group in Hong Kong and enjoyed a three- month posting in Fiji in early 2019. Jerry’s youngest daughter, Izzy (Sn 17), has completed her second year at Exeter University, where she is studying Spanish. Izzy now has a year out of university life, teaching at schools in Barcelona and Madrid. Jerry keeps in regular contact with David Bennett-Baggs (D 78), which included a 10-day holiday in Sri Lanka and their regular trip to the Cheltenham Festival in March with Hilary West (Sc 79) and Julian West (Sc 79). Good luck to Jerry, who is bookending this year with a trek to Everest Base Camp in mid- November – it is an age thing (he will be 60 in October)!
Jay Cartwright (S 71) reports that his daughter, Jo Draper (W 05), and husband Tom are busy renovating a house in the Earlsfield district of London. With the house uninhabitable, they have been staying with friends and Tom’s parents for several months. Jo works for interior designer Nina Campbell and squeezes Earlsfield site visits in between project work for Nina in New York and London. Jo and Tom have seen Kate Cranfield (D 05) and her husband, Ed, at weddings around the UK and recently in Vienna. Kate and Ed are currently living in Paris. Jay’s brother, Philip Cartwright (S 69), has been travelling extensively with his wife, Susie. Susie’s youngest daughter, Millie, has recently settled with her new husband in Australia and Philip and Susie are on a second visit this year to welcome Millie and Alistair’s new son, Wilfred. With Philip starring at the Fremantle Golf Club and Susie a stalwart of the local

bridge scene, they could soon be honorary Aussies! Philip frequently sees his near neighbour, Chunks Bowden (Sc 68), to “discuss" alcoholic beverages and classic cars. Chunks and Nicky’s son, Matt, got married recently to his Hungarian fiancée in Budapest. Ian Hodgson (Sc 78) and Al Gordon (C 69) have recently been appointed Chairman and Treasurer respectively of Jay's golf club, Denham. It is good to see OOs at the seat of power and Jay is sure that the club will thrive under their direction. Jay and Julia recently visited Oundle and had a very enjoyable lunch with Roger Page (S
71) and his wife, Alison. They are busy grandparents, but it was excellent to see that Roger now has some time to devote to painting. Indeed, his works are much in demand and Jay and Julia are delighted to have a set of three paintings of scenes on the seashore now hanging at home. In July, Jay and Julia visited Edinburgh, and had lunch with Alan Biggar (S 71). Alan continues to be very involved with charity work, including the Teenage Cancer Trust, and was on good form.
Aidan Nicholson (Lx 96) still works as a fund manager in the City, looking after smaller company investments. He regularly travels to the USA to seek new institutional clients and pacify older ones, and now visits Japan as well, since he has recently taken on responsibility for investment there. He keeps in touch with Charles Ashby (Lx 96) and his new wife, Tory, as well as Alex Stanhope (Lx 96) and Max Barraclough (Lx 96) amongst others
David Nicholson (Lx 99) is happily settling down to married life in Chorleywood. He and his wife, Gez, produced a daughter, Charlotte, in January. He sees Max Desoutter (Lx 99) occasionally.
