of shooting is as obsessive as ever! He also met up with Bruce Galliford (St A 87), Tim Macmillan (G 87), James Hollands (N 87), David Hawkins (Ldr 87), Gavin Lane (D 87) and Ben Iversen (G 87) at last year’s London OO Dinner. Apparently, they haven't changed and he sincerely hopes that they say the same about him!
Nicolas Kernick (L 10) completed his MBA at Harvard Business School this summer and is moving to San Francisco to continue working for the Boston Consulting Group. Any keen cyclists in the area please get in touch!
Robin Reynolds (Lx 58) continues to enjoy life in Catworth, near Kimbolton, and follows the Troubleshooters, as he was a member of the School shooting team in 1956, 1957 and 1958. Although he no longer shoots, he has been at Bisley for the Ashburton and hopes to keep in touch. He greatly enjoyed the Troubleshooters’ 50th anniversary dinner in May.
Tim Wood (C 76) attended the Oundle Society pre-Christmas event last year in Pall Mall with Simon MacDonald-Hay (C 76), Nigel Carter (C 77) and his daughter, Gemma Wood (L 08), and met up with Nigel Kirkpatrick (C 76). He also met up with Simon, Nigel and Clive Carter (C 75) in Oundle last summer for a wander about the town. Having lived nearby in Thorpe Waterville for the last few years, he has moved into Oundle to be closer to The Ship and The Talbot, thus seeing some of his old teachers around town. He is attempting to wind down work now and get more involved in town life, helping at the various festivals and with other activities.
Guy Spragg (Sc 88) has undertaken a physical challenge in support of charity. He and three other ex-School House boys reunited to walk the 106km, 24-hour Isle of Wight challenge in May 2019. Raising money for Young Minds, they were sponsored by a variety of Old Oundelians, who were very generous in helping to raise a substantial sum. Dominic Brady's (Sc 87) late withdrawal due to a "bad leg" ensured that the walk was
completed, though they certainly missed his enlightening discussions on insurance!
Hugo Dyer (Ldr 91) is still happily residing in North Buckinghamshire and commuting to London as a chartering manager for a large Chinese shipowner. He is happily married with two daughters, aged 10 and eight, both also blessed with the ginger tinge! His main news is that his father, Colin Dyer (Ldr 55), passed away peacefully on his boat in France this Easter, aged 80. Hugo says: “He loved Oundle, always wore his OO tie and reminisced so much about it; the School was almost his family then. He avidly followed news and sport of the School.” Colin initially worked in the City as a stockbroker, then worked in Suffolk, before retiring to Devon with his wife, Julia. He loved sailing and skiing, and a gin and tonic! He is survived by Julia, Hugo and Hugo’s sister, Marcella.
Sophie Wake (L 08) has been
pursuing her acting career on screen and stage for most of the year. Last year she performed in Simon Stevens' One Minute on stage in Cirencester, while throughout the summer and autumn she was filming in beautiful Corfu for the popular ITV drama, The Durrells, which was in its final series. In September she became engaged to her partner, Geoff Cliff, and they are looking forward to getting married at the Great Hall in Oundle next August. Congratulations, Sophie and Geoff!
Richard Maddison (Sc 55) had a wonderful chat with John Carroll (C 52) at an alumni lunch at Queens' College, Cambridge. Unfortunately, Ian Wainwright (Ldr 55) was unable to attend it. Ian, Hamish Donaldson (Ldr 54) and Richard were together for seven terms in the Maths VI, where John had been just before them, and sometimes sat at the back of Dr Tagg's lessons. Richard remembers Dr Tagg's first words at his first Maths lesson in September 1952: “Now, if I
