www start a sentence with ‘now’, you are to say ‘then’ to get me out of that habit, as the exam board said many Oundle Maths A-level answers had text starting ‘Now...’, explaining the next step.” Dr Tagg did not say “Now...” again in the rest of that lesson! Every year since 1963 Richard has sent out a Christmas letter. Roland Harries (Lx 53) and John Atkin (Sc 55) would have received the lot, as Richard has kept in touch with both ever since they left Oundle. Richard had a meal with Roland in May 2014 and one with John in October 2014. In March 1951 Roland and Richard, who were in the same forms for two years, were confirmed together by Bishop
This last year has flown by and life in Gorey, County Wexford, is great, with our three children now four, six and nearly eight! My husband and I continue to expand our fitness business – The Stables Fitness & Wellbeing – here on the farm, which we love. My family in Essex are all well too and I enjoyed spending time together with my sisters, Rebecca Savage (K 06) and Katie Jessop- Gaymer (K 04), and their families in Portugal at the beginning of the summer.
Richard Henshall (St A 75) wrote to us from a sunny but windy western Algarve, where he continues to spend as much time as he can get away with! He reports that generally life is good. His cousin, Robert Henshall (Lx 75), has had a gentle year following a hip replacement last September, with little activity and unfortunately no sailing. He was hoping that this summer would see some nautical miles under his keel, once he had fully recovered. Robert is applying to do an MSc over an extended period of time in Applied Archaeology in Geophysics, so he expects to be kept busy for a while!
Jock Workman (D 53) made contact just before he joined an
Spencer Leeson, who laid his hands on them as a pair, and by chance their parents sat next to each other at the service – the start of long friendships. John and Richard became friends soon after John arrived in School House, which was the year after Richard. They shared a study and each went to the other's wedding.
Finally, Tim Pollard (Sc 93) reports that he is still living near Oundle and working for Bauer Media, where he is in the digital publishing team. He enjoyed playing cricket against the Will Davies (Ldr 93) XI, who arranges an annual match against a local side shoddy enough to let Tim play! This meant he was reunited with old School House mates James Hicks

exciting sailing trip, where he was hoping to touch down at Ballycastle in the extreme North-East of Ireland, just opposite Rathlin Island. Jock plans to head to London soon, where he usually catches up with an OO or two! He will also travel to Cobh in Cork by train to visit his daughter, Caroline, whose husband, Frank Hederman, has a salmon-smoking business based at Belvelly.
From rural East Cork, Arun Kapil (G 87) and his wife, Olive, continue to enjoy the fantastic simplicity of their life. Arun reports that Olive is spending increasingly more time on the farm and they are hoping to bring on board their first dog – a lovely little terrier mongrel called Nip, which
and Charlie Underwood (Sc 93), as well as Adam Grint (Lx 93) and other OOs. He also plays hockey quite regularly with Andy Rymer (G 91), Jules McAlpine (Lx 88) and Paul Chatterton (S 88), as well as joining the annual OO fixture. This year's old boys’ match was the closest fixture in two decades, ending on a penalty shoot-out which had Chatterton facing his son at flicks. The circularity of Oundelian life is complete!
Thank you to everyone who submitted news. Hopefully next year I will be back to fighting fitness. I hope to see as many as possible of you at various OO events.

THE OLD OUNDELIAN 2018 –2019
will keep them busy! They both live the life of their spice company, Green Saffron, and their focus is on their impending crowd-funding round to help fund burgeoning growth. 2019 has been a great year so far for Green Saffron, which saw them successfully launch a new range of five vegan stock-keeping units into the chilled convenience sector with Tesco Ireland and they now intend to push the range on to include SuperValu and Dunnes Stores.
Finally, a new recruit to Ireland, Sam Cates (Lx 96), moved to Northern Ireland in April 2018 to assume command of 2nd Battalion The Rifles. His first year in command flashed by, having deployed to Gabon, Jordan, the Falkland Islands and Sierra Leone (in 2018) on various training events, and to Kenya on an eight-week ‘war-fighter’ exercise this year. He reports that preparations for the next major deployment (to Afghanistan) are now in full swing. Sam writes that, socially, Northern Ireland is excellent and very different to previous sojourns here. He still sees lots of the ‘96 vintage, especially Henry Bryers (Lx 96), Jimmy Goddard (Lx 96) and Nev Ackerman (St A 96).
