St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Community College
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) was formed by
amalgamating four existing institutions; the Advanced Level College, the Teachers College, the
Technical College and the School of Nursing. The SVGCC Act (2005) provided the legal
framework for this amalgamation. In 2008, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community
College Board was installed and in January 2009, the SVGCC Board of Governors took
administrative control of the College. The College continues to be financed by Government
through an annual subvention.
These institutions are located at four different sites and the maximum distance between
institutions is about seven miles. Under the new entity, the institutions are now referred to as
Divisions and their names modified to reflect this change. There are the Divisions of Nursing
Education, Teacher Education, Technical and Vocational Education and the Division of Arts,
Sciences and General Studies.
