Visionary Leadership
Dr. F. Scott Ross is the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Cleveland Clinic Florida’s Weston
Hospital, where he leads hospital operations with a focus on clinical excellence, fiscal responsibility, and
strategic growth. In this role, Dr. Ross has been instrumental in expanding Cleveland Clinic Florida’s
regional and global reach, including partnerships throughout Central and South America and the Middle
East, notably with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Before assuming this executive leadership role, Dr. Ross served as Chair of the Department of Hospital
Medicine at Weston. He continues to play an active role in medical education as a faculty member at
Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine and Florida International University, and as a
mentor and curriculum advisor at Ross University School of Medicine, his alma mater.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ross has earned widespread recognition for his leadership and commitment to
patient care. His awards include the Cleveland Clinic Clinician of the Year (2015), two-time Nightingale
Physician Collaboration Award winner (2013, 2016), and the Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency’s
Physician of the Year Award (2020).
Under his leadership, Weston Hospital has emerged as one of the most advanced medical centers within
the Cleveland Clinic enterprise, second only to the main campus in Ohio in terms of patient acuity.

A Passion for Equitable Care and Community Health
Dr. Pete Gutierrez currently serves as the Medical Director of the Miami Rescue Mission Health Clinic, a
role that reflects his lifelong dedication to community health and healthcare access. In addition to
overseeing operations, he continues to treat patients at the clinic, which provides essential care to
Miami’s homeless and underserved populations. Under his leadership, the clinic has expanded to include
satellite sites in Pompano, Hollywood, the Miami Dade College Medical Campus, and Victoria Hospital -
each serving as a clinical training hub for future healthcare professionals.
Dr. Gutierrez has held numerous academic and leadership roles, including Associate Dean and Founding
Chair of the Physician Assistant Program at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida
International University (FIU) and Dean of the School of Health Sciences at Miami Dade College, where he
helped establish and later direct the Physician Assistant Program. Under his leadership, the school
expanded to 18 allied health programs serving over 7,000 students annually. He has also taught at Nova
Southeastern University, Ross University School of Medicine, and the American University of Antigua,
bringing clinical expertise in internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, emergency medicine, HIV care,
and oncology.
In 2009, Dr. Gutierrez co-founded the Miami Rescue Mission Health Clinic, now a cornerstone of
accessible care in South Florida. For this work, he received the Healthcare Heroes Award from the Greater
Miami Chamber of Commerce in 2012, among other honors.
