                                                   Wael K Barsoum, MD

Dr. Wael Barsoum is an innovative, value-driven orthopedic surgeon, esteemed professor, biomedical researcher,
and healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience driving organizational growth, operational
performance, and transformational change in healthcare. Since August 2020, he has served as President and
Chief Transformation Officer of HOPCo, where he leads the company’s national market transformation initiatives.
In this role, Dr. Barsoum spearheads efforts to align diverse stakeholders across the musculoskeletal space to
accelerate the shift from volume-based to value-based care models. He also oversees HOPCo’s musculoskeletal
service line integration, specialty hospitals, quality programs, and operational teams.

Prior to joining HOPCo, Dr. Barsoum served as CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida. Under his
leadership, the Florida region was transformed from a $600 million, single 155-bed hospital with nine remote
sites into a $1.8 billion, five-hospital, 1,083-bed tertiary and quaternary care system with more than 40 regional
sites. His strategic integration of Martin Health and Indian River Health Systems created a cohesive regional
network spanning from Fort Lauderdale to the Treasure Coast. During his tenure, Cleveland Clinic Weston
Hospital earned three consecutive #1 rankings in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro region by U.S. News & World
Report. His tenure marked significant growth in volume, revenue, profitability, and improvement in key quality and
               performance metrics across the system.

Dr. Barsoum is widely recognized as a visionary leader adept at forecasting future challenges and implementing
strategic roadmaps for sustainable success. Among his many innovations at Cleveland Clinic are the
development of the Enterprise Surgical Council, the creation of the first Surgical Operations Playbook, and the
launch of the “Check Please” Cost Transparency Program. He also led the global integration of novel software
and predictive analytics into surgical scheduling systems across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.

A practicing orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Barsoum has been awarded dozens of patents for his clinical innovations.
He received the Cleveland Clinic Sones Award for Innovation in 2011 and has been honored with the Cleveland

Clinic Innovations Award ten times. His academic contributions are equally notable: he is the editor-in-chief of
the Journal of Hip Surgery, has authored nine chapters in medical textbooks, co-authored more than 200 peer-
reviewed journal articles, and presented at over 300 conferences worldwide.

Dr. Barsoum is a distinguished member of both the Hip Society and the Knee Society and currently serves on the
Florida Board of Medicine, to which he was appointed by the Governor of Florida.

                                                                                                          RossMed Day 2
