In the Cherries were in a big relegation battle, struggling in the fourth tier without a manager and with a -point deduction to overcome.
Eddie was coaching in the youth setup and was called in to help as caretaker manager. Two games later he was given the job full-time, with Jason joining him as his assistant. The entire club’s existence was at stake.
A huge haul of ten wins soon gave Bournemouth
a chance at safety, and with two games to go the famous - win over Grimsby meant we’d done it – the Great Escape had been completed and Bournemouth were staying in the league!
The upward surge was just getting started! The new League Two season started with eight wins out of nine for the Cherries and promotion was looking a real possibility.
Amazingly, even though Eddie and Jason weren’t allowed to bring in any new players, Bournemouth sealed their return to League One with a memorable win away at Burton Albion, the Cherries were on the rise!
Soon Eddie had managed a century of games for the club, but his th match would be his last Bournemouth game for a while, as the management duo moved to Burnley to test themselves in the Championship.
After months with the Clarets, Eddie and Jason returned home to their former stomping ground – they were back with the Cherries!
The pair came back in October, and before was out they’d already managed more than ten wins – and they weren’t done there, guiding the team to eight wins in a row in the spring to hop the Cherries up into the Championship for just the second time in the club’s history.
Bournemouth did well in their rst second-tier season, nishing in the top ten, but there was nothing to prepare the fans for Eddie and Jason’s next trick – they had their eyes on the Premier League!
The / season started well with a - win away to Hudders eld, and more wins before Christmas meant that the manager, his assistant and all the Cherries fans opened their festive presents top of the Championship tree, but could they keep up the speedy pace?
Yes they could!
On a memorable night at Vitality Stadium Bolton were beaten and the Cherries knew they’d be in the Premier League for the rst time the next season, and ve days later they were champions! Eddie and Jason had taken the team to the top ight for the rst time ever - an unbelievable achievement!
The management team brought in some new players as they had their rst shot at the Premier League, but they also showed their faith in the players that had won promotion.
Against expectations, the Cherries stayed up in their rst season, then they nished an amazing ninth, before nishing in mid-table last year in their third season.
Eddie and Jason are now taking on some of the world’s best managers every week, from Jose Mourinho to Pep Guardiola, and proving that their side deserve to compete – and we’ve scored wins over Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal already in our Premier League adventure!
