Foundational literacy skills are essential components of any reading program for emerging readers. The facets of the skills that need to be taught vary depending on the knowledge that a child brings to the classroom; therefore, instruction must be individualized to reach every child, especially those that need extra support to engage with the classroom curriculum.
Finding a way to provide all our children—and especially the students who need it most, such as English learners—with intensive, systematic, no-fail literacy instruction is imperative. Here’s the good news: we can do it. We know what works.
iRead® is a foundational reading program designed to close the language and literacy gap for English learners by helping teachers engage students, personalize instruction, and capture information to better meet individual needs.
For our young English learners and newcomers to succeed in school and beyond, they need a strong foundation in early language and literacy.
They need iRead.
