Program Brief
iRead is a digital foundational reading program that provides prevention, intervention, and acceleration to eliminate the reading achievement gap. Beginning with alphabet knowledge, print concepts, and phonological awareness, iRead progresses toward increasingly complex skills in word recognition, spelling, and uency to ensure all children master the critical foundations of reading.
RESEARCH-BASED AND PROVEN INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
iRead was developed with the expertise of nationally recognized researchers and practitioners in foundational reading and language acquisition to place all K–2 students on a predictable path to reading pro ciently by third grade. Research studies prove its e ectiveness with children in all subgroups, including English learners, children with special needs, and children from fragile families.
PERSONALIZED LEARNING WITH SUPPORT FOR ENGLISH LEARNERS
Throughout iRead, the instructional design re ects a consideration for the needs of English learners at all stages of language acquisition. The personalized student software is adaptive and based on Dr. Ted Hasselbring’s Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology (FASTT) algorithm, which continuously monitors performance and customizes the pacing, instructional load, and content for each child, ensuring the time on task is 100 percent optimized.
PROGRESS MONITORING AND DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
The iRead software continually assesses children as they engage in interactive activities. This intensive progress monitoring seamlessly combines instruction with assessment by providing children with immediate and corrective feedback, and then it automatically incorporates the results into each child’s individualized instructional path. Teachers access the management system to receive recommendations for di erentiated groups and targeted lessons based on each student’s performance data and location within the program’s scope and sequence.
FLEXIBLE IMPLEMENTATION
iRead is designed to t into all K–2 literacy block schedules and enhance the e ectiveness of any core reading curricula. Teachers and English learner specialists can implement the program in a variety of settings, including the classroom, resource room, and media center. iRead can also be accessed by children at home.
