10. CAN I BUY A PIZZA FROM A LICENSED RESTAURANT AND SELL IT BY THE SLICE TO PEOPLE ON MY FLOOR OR AT OUR EVENT?
No. Pizza or other similar for-immediate-consumption foods are not permitted to be sold and then re-sold for retail or profit purposes.
11. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TRANSPORT FOOD TO AN EVENT?
Make sure the transportation of any food to your event follows best-practice guidelines from the USDA. All food should stay in a clean container with a cover. For all foods except breads, use a cover that is not absorbent or penetrable. Obviously, keep the foods off the floor, and away from water or sewer lines. Prevent cross-contamination between foods—don’t allow them to touch. There are further stipulations regarding food storage available from the DuPage County Health Department’s food safety website.
12. HOW CAN I PREPARE FOOD FOR AN EVENT CORRECTLY AND SAFELY?
Follow the preparation guidelines on the DuPage County Health Department website, especially for certain kinds of foods that require special attention for safety. Also, note the temporary permit food event checklist, a helpful “to-do” list for proper food preparation.
