Q. Congratulations on being with the club for 8 years! You are a dispatcher now, but that was not your
original position. Tell me what it was like as a Fleet Driver?
A. Yes, I was a light service driver for about a year and half when i started with AAA. I enjoyed it. When you
(the driver) show up to help someone in need it is very gratifying. You are the hero, you are there to save the
day. It may sound corny, I know, but that is how I looked at it.
Q. No! I think it is absolutely true and I am sure gratifying to see both sides of the entire process right? I
know you had some health issues that brought you to work in the call center. How long have you been
in dispatch?
A. I’ve been dispatching about 6 and a half years. I started on evenings and moved to days a few months after
that.
Q. Well, you are do a great job with each call you take. You are also very attentive to our members and
keep them informed as much as possible. What advice would you give to someone interested in
working as a dispatcher?
A. I tell people that sit with me that are interested in coming to dispatch to make the move. With dispatching
there is never a dull moment. You never have to worry about doing the same thing every day. Each call is
unique and has its own separate challenge. You need to be able to multitask and you will have to change
directions and adjust on the fly. It is a definite adrenaline rush.
Q. I agree! What do you like to do outside of work?
A. I am a huge sports fanatic! Any chance I get to play or watch sports, I’m there. I’ve been on a softball league
for about 6 years now. We were once sponsored by A-1 towing. Fishing is another big hobby of mine. I love
to fish.
Q. If someone could describe you in a few words....What do you think they would say?
A. I would hope they’d say that I am a joy to work with and someone who would go out of their way to help.
Also, the first person they would come to for a good laugh.
Q. Who do you look up to in life or who is someone that has influenced you to be who you are today?
A. My Grandfather. He taught me just about everything I know. He taught me how to drive, the importance of
a strong work ethic, patience, and to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Side Note: One of the best things about my grandpa was that on the day I was born he announced his
retirement. His reason? He was going to be a full-time Grandpa to me. He was always there to show his
support from my first day of preschool up until my last day of High School.
Q. Tell me about a favorite moment you’ve had while working for AAA…..
A. When I won “Dispatcher of the Year” during my first year in dispatch. That was special to me. I was
also the first one to win from the first shift. My peers and I got the opportunity to go to Hollywood and
celebrate the achievement. It was a blast.
