Hiring a Millennial? Expect the Unexpected
Josh Tickell
Considered a top strategist for understanding and
dealing with millennials, Josh Tickell gave AASBO members
a glimpse of what to expect when hiring members of that
often misunderstood Generation Y.
In his keynote address July 18 at AASBO’s Summer
Conference and Expo, Tickell, an award-winning film
director, said the question he hears when speaking to
groups around the country is: “What to do with those darn
millennials?” ey were born between 1980 and 2000, there
are about 80 million to 100 million of them and Gen Y has
been called “the generation that will change the world,”
Tickell said.
Generations generally span about 20 years and experience
certain milestones together. Generation Z, born from 2001
