I Will Fill This House with Glory

So NOW THE MAIN BODY of the Jewish nation was exiled in
Babylon. The date of Nebuchadnezzar's first siege was 605
B.C. The Jews were carried off in groups until 586 B.C.
The underrated book of Jeremiah remained in the ruins
of Jerusalem, considered not worthy of deportation by
Nebuchadnezzar's armies. But his visions were to carry on.
Among the captives interned in Babylon was a youth of the
                           royal court named Daniel.
Daniel was a devout worshiper of God, longing for free-
dom and remaining in constant prayer for Israel throughout
his long life. He was to see the entire seventy years of cap-
tivity pass and to witness the return to Jerusalem and the
founding of the second Temple. Too bad, in all his patience
and faith, that he could not have read the clear statements
                           of Jeremiah 29:10-14:
Thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be ac-
complished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my
good word toward you, in causing you to return to this
place [the holy land] . . . And I will turn away your cap-
tivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from
                                all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD;
