STRATEGIC PRIORITY 4: Increase Visibility of TREC to Various Stakeholders
TREC has gained world-class recognition over the years as an entity that conducts cutting-edge re- search in tropical and subtropical crops and natu- ral resource management, yet it is fair to say that there still is not enough awareness of TREC and its contribution among some of the key stakeholders at the local, regional, and state level. A manifesta- tion of this is that there is not enough financial sup- port coming from key stakeholders and, in some cases, there are misconceptions and competition from other local institutions of higher education. If stakeholders are unaware of what TREC is and what we offer, then they will be less inclined to collabo- rate, contribute funds and resources, or advocate for our growth. This can adversely affect our effort to gain further prominence on the world stage and achieve our vision. We want our target audience to take note of our offerings, our reputation, and
our contribution to our various stakeholders. The diverse nature of our stakeholders, each with dif- ferent requirements, means the communication of our research outputs needs to be especially tar- geted, specific, and relevant to each of these audi- ences.
Goals
• Improve and expand the knowledge of our work and contribution to south Florida’s agri- culture and natural resource management:
• Increase our public engagement to dissemi- nate information at the local, national, and in- ternational levels.
• Promote our reputation internationally while developing our national and state profiles.
Outcomes
Among other things, TREC will improve its stature locally, nationally, and internationally for its inno- vative work in natural resources and tropical/sub- tropical agriculture and will increase its support from stakeholders.
